In Eastern Carver County Schools a plan has been implemented “Check & Connect”, a Student Engagement Intervention. In the past year, Check & Connect provided 1:1 mentoring to close to 250 of our secondary students struggling to be successful in school and in learning.

In Minnesota, nearly 1 in 3 third graders is failing to reach basic levels of literacy. To ensure that every Minnesota child be a successful reader by the end of 3rd grade, the advent of tutors is a must. We need help for our young students to develop their reading skills, by adding full-time volunteers to help our young students grow and develop their reading skills.
