Mary Hershberger-Thun + Roger Swanson were introduced by Dan Keyport. Mary, former mayor of Victoria, provided us with a description of the newly formed Eastern Carver County chapter of WCAB. Safe, affordable and flexible supplement transportation service is now available to those in the service area of Chaska, Carver, Chanhassen and Victoria. Potential riders register with volunteer drivers and pay according to their income levels in lieu of expensive taxi services. Volunteer drivers receive training and driving record checks so that both parties can have confidence in their safety. Volunteers are also used to register passengers and dispatch drivers. Potential drivers should contact their insurance provider for their coverage requirements. Last year, WeCAB volunteers drove 50,000 miles and volunteers donated 4,600 hours of their time. Sponsors of the program include Ridgeview Medical Center, Carver County, Southwest Transit, BCT Corporation, and individuals.
