Chaska was one of four Rotary clubs including Chanhassen, Excelsior and Lake Minnetonka that collaborated to raise $45,000 for Camp Fire Minnesota’s Camp Tanadoona in Chanhassen. The contribution helped build one of three overnight cabins at Tanadoona. The dedication ceremony was Sept. 13.

Rotary clubs raise money from their members and through a variety of fund-raising events. The clubs then put their charity to work for local, national and international causes. Clubs often work together to raise money for larger projects. The four Rotary clubs raised money during Tanadoona’s three-year capital campaign.

Camp Tanadoona was gifted to the then-Camp Fire Girls in 1924. Camp Fire Minnesota, which now includes boys, provides year-round activities and outdoor programs to Minnesota youth. It operates two camps, Tanadoona in Chanhassen and Camp Bluewater in Grand Rapids, Minn. Many members of the Chaska, Chanhassen, Excelsior and Lake Minnetonka clubs either attended Tanadoona in their youth or sent their children there to camp.
