Aug. 23 Program: Rotary New Teacher Breakfast

The 2018 Rotary International theme “Be The Inspiration” was also the guiding message for today’s New Educator
Breakfast. Chaska Rotary welcomed public, private, and parochial school teachers for the 31st consecutive year.

Eastern Carver County Schools’ Teacher of Year, Anna Edlund

Rotarian and longtime educator, David Brecht, asked us the rhetorical question, “Do you act, or react?” and used it illustrate Rotary International’s commitment to helping our communities.

Eastern Carver County Schools’ Teacher of the Year, Anna Edlund, spoke with enthusiasm and humor about her grandmother Gladys. Gladys was a teacher who loved sharing new things with her grandchildren, and her students. A photo of Gladys holding a blossom was placed at each table. The photo illustrated how, with a passion shown by all good educators, a simple thought can be shared to inspire others. Anna rang her ancient school bell to call new teachers to school.
