PRESENTATION: George C. Klein Memorial Award for 2025
Phil Solseng provided a thorough background of the Klein award and its establishment by our club in 1980 as an important recognition of individuals and organizations that have contributed to our community and have represented the ideal of “service above self.”
Phil then introduced Cindy Anderson and provided a summary of her accomplishments and impact on many parts of the community. These included the Chamber of Commerce, School District 112 Foundation, Chaska Turkey Trot and End Polio Now events, Carver County Arts Consortium, Rotary youth exchange host and philanthropic support of the Rotary Foundation.
Ryan Seibert presented Cindy with her plaque, and she responded humbly and challenged those assembled to also fill their lives with contributions to the community.
Past recipients of the award who helped Cindy celebrate this event: Bob Roepke, Jeff Burzinski, Dan Keyport, Sarah Carlson, Steve Mueller, Dave Pokorney, Jay Molnau and Gary VanEyll.

Christmas in May, Saturday May 2, 2026
Ten current and former Chaska Rotarians joined several hundred other community members to fix up four homes and yards as part of the 30th Christmas in May service project. Following an invocation by host Pastor Greg Snow and a meal prepared by volunteers and funded by donations, Jeff Burzinski provided a history of this event that he, Bob Roepke, Dave Pokorney and others started when they were self-propelled into actions to help people improve their living conditions.
A past recipient of this help gave a bit of personal motivation for those of us who were preparing to take shovels, hammers and paint brushes in hand. Comments from a City Electrician and our Fire Chief and the presence of Mayor Taylor Hubbard also illustrated the involvement of our Chaska municipal infrastructure. Armed with inspiration and wearing commemorative tee shirts, teams set out on a beautiful morning to locations on 2nd Street, Ehler Avenue, Crest Drive and Parallel Street.
Rotarians participating: Bob Roepke, Celi Haga, Dan Keyport, Dave Pokorney, Jean Heyduck, Matt Podhradsky, Neil Wingert, Robin Nesburg, and Sarah Carlson.
Invocations can be a faith traditional prayer, or a meditation, or inspirational verse or quote. Brief 20 – 30 seconds. Light-hearted is okay. Option: focus on our Mission of Service Above Self. Need an idea – Google Rotary Invocations. Schedule Changes? – contact Neil Wingert.
