Dave Krause passed away this past Tuesday, August 22nd. Our thoughts are with his family and friends and fellow Rotarians who knew him for many years. Dave joined our club in 1978, and last attended a meeting just a few weeks ago.
Keith Payne shared a Thank You note from STRIVE scholarship recipient Simone Smith.

PRESENTATION: School District 112 New Educators Breakfast
Rotarian David Brecht was our Master of Ceremonies at the annual New Educator Breakfast today. He welcomed our guests from most of the School District’s schools providing the education for 9,000 area students.
Rotarian Mark Omann then provided insight about Rotary and our club and the value he receives by his membership. Both of Mark’s parents were teachers, so he feels a strong connection with our annual tribute to the profession that matches Rotary with their belief in “Service Above Self.”
Leaders from each of the represented schools introduced their new staff members and their focus areas.
Kelly Lutgen, the District 112 Foundation Teacher of the Year, then provided remarks and advice to her new cohorts. Kelly teaches social studies at Chanhassen High School. With 8 years of experience, she offered advice:
Search for partners who can support you in your new role.
Be an architect to build expertise as an educator.
Accept being imperfect.
Adjust to “the winds” of change and new experiences.
In Closing, David Brecht wished that those assembled to “lead with your hearts, care for your kids, and to serve the community.” Our club then provided Target gift cards to those lucky to have their name drawn.
Chaska Cares Music Festival & Fundraiser, Saturday October 7, 2023
Our club is partnered with Chaska Parks and Recreation to provide our community with a music festival in October at the Athletic Park baseball field. Starting at noon and ending at 10 PM, seven music sets will be performed. Folk, rock, and Americana tunes will attract a variety of attendees and the proceeds will support the building of a Miracle League field and Universal Playground for children of all abilities.
