PRESENTATION: Mary Lahammer, Twin Cities Public Television
Nate Bostrom introduced our last speaker of the year – Mary Lehammer, from Twin Cities Public Television. She has been the political journalist for TPT since 1998, and currently lives nearby in Eden Prairie. Mary immediately connected with her audience by telling us we lived in a politically-exciting area within Minnesota. Our voting history intrigues Mary and others because our elected representatives have been consistently inconsistent with regard to political party affiliation.
Her interest in politics started early as a result of her father’s work, and her position as a newscaster and interviewer fulfills her life’s ambition. Mary provided her perspectives on three decades of Minnesota’s political personalities and she is glad to see the current diversity of representation. She thanked our state’s judiciary for avoiding sectarian definition of voting districts and establishing Minnesota as location that appreciates bipartisan cooperation. Mary shared her opinion that “suburban women decide every political issue in this state”.
This presentation to our club was another occurrence where our members would have kept our speaker answering questions if the meeting had lasted longer. The Friday evening (7 -8 PM) Almanac show on TPT (link) features Mary’s comments and interviews. Telephone 651-229-1330.
