For her final call, Michelle Kraus asked for volunteers to provide the horsepower to support the Chaska Cares Music Festival. We need to check IDs and distribute wrist bands that authorize alcohol sales. Selling drink tickets and raffle tickets are also actions that will be needed. Shifts are 3:30 – 7:00 PM and 7:00 – 10:30 PM. LINK. “Show up, and we’ll find something for you to do!”
Cindy Anderson again asked for participation at our Pot Luck Social at the Solseng’s shed on September 28. Good food, Rotarians, and art studios!
Erin Kerber announced that just coffee and water will be provided at our morning meetings, starting October 1. BYO cinnamon roll from the Red Bench, but be ready to defend it!
Another of our international Rotary Club flags was hung up on the blue cloth. Robin Nesburg gave us the Seoul South Korea club’s fascinating history including its perseverance through World War 2 and the Korean war.
ROTARY EXCHANGE STUDENT - Marcos Alonsos
Marcos participated in his own version of Monday Night Futball by playing for both JV and varsity soccer teams for Chaska High School. He really enjoyed the school’s attendance and support of the team when it played against Chanhassen. Thanks to Ken Hiller for the action photo during Marcos’ 3-goal performance on Sept. 16.
FINEMASTER + HAPPY DOLLARS
Inspired by the anniversary of the reunification of West and East Germany (Oct. 3, 1990), Finemaster George Glaros brought us all to ACHTUNG! with questions about Germany. We’ll all be more prepared for any Octoberfest events now! Tables with two failed answers had their own unification of resources as they purchased a $20 raffle ticket. Happy Dollars were donated by Ken Hiller, Celi Haga and Gretchen Oppriecht.
Alcohol Server Training
Tami LaGow, from Carver County Public Health Department, presented training that enable those serving alcohol at the Music Fest to abide by the regulations established to promote safety in our communities. Her focus was to prevent serving alcohol to minors and those already inebriated. To help us identify the behaviors indicating someone who should not be served, Kayleee McClellan donned a vision-altering set of goggles. Walking and sitting down presented Kaylee with problems similar to the effects of alcohol – loss of balance and the need for a solid grip. Thank you Kaylee!
Tami was assisted by Officer Chris Pesheck from Chaska Public Safety. He has helped our club at our public functions in the past and will be a welcome sight at our Music Festival on Sept. 20. He can be contacted at 952-448-4200. Tami’s contact information is on her business card below.

Note from John Roebke: Invocations can be a faith traditional prayer, or a meditation, or inspirational verse or quote. Brief 20 – 30 seconds. Light-hearted is okay. Option: focus on our Mission of Service Above Self. Need an idea – Google Rotary Invocations. Not a personal talent? Don't wait, tell me NOW, 612-790-7067, john.roebke@live.com. I will be glad to name another. If I forgot that you told me not a talent, please forgive me. Remind me. If not a good DATE, trade with a mate.
