Invocation: Nate Bostrom
NEW EDUCATOR APPRECIATION BREAKFAST
Gretchen Oppriecht was our Master of Ceremonies for our annual greeting to new educators within School District 112. Keyboard accompaniment during breakfast was provided by Leah Nelson.
Our keynote speaker was the District’s Teacher of the Year Laura Tessmer. She has been a teacher for 20 years and started her career at Clover Ridge Elementary School. Laura described herself with seven characteristics that helped define her success as a teacher. Making many of us feel better about ourselves, Laura proclaimed her introversion and anxiety as “superpowers” that allow her to connect with students. She advised her audience to take the time to listen and cultivate leadership and independent thinking within their students.
OVERVIEW OF ROTARY – Lisa Anderson, Chair of the District School Board and Chaska Rotarian, shared her view of Rotary’s value of service above self along with the Four Way Test, as guiding principles for our communities and for the new teachers.
INTRODUCTIONS OF STAFF
Administrators from the District and attending schools introduced their new staff members and their primary responsibilities.
