This month, Wayne Ward celebrates 24 years in the club.
Erin Kerber repeated her request for volunteers to sell Raffle Tickets at several community events: Fire + Ice, River City Days, Carver County Fair, Carver Steamboat Days, Latin Music Fest, and the main event, our Music Fest. Refer to the Upcoming Events in this newsletter for specific dates and web page links.
HAPPY DOLLARS
Happy people this morning: Dan Keyport, Ken Hiller, Phil Solseng, and Sheryl Hough. Sheryl referred us to view the Chaska Police Facebook page for updates on their beneficial activities.
Rotary International
Dan Keyport highlighted the flag from Lusaka, Zambia. The club of Zambia’s capital city was formed 71 years ago and is continuing to provide the benefits of their work in many projects. Dan put on his Traveller hat and recommended Zambia as a country to visit. (Link to Wikipedia)
ROTARY EXCHANGE STUDENT -Marcos Alonso
Marcos and Erin Kerber looked at their calendars and determined that this would be his last meeting with us. All of us, including Marcos, were shocked and saddened that our weekly mornings would not have the photos and vicarious energy from this young man. Marcos talked a little about his upcoming trip to Boston, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, and Orlando. He previewed some of his future plans for college in Madrid and maybe Switzerland. His appreciation of his time and activities with us needed no translation, and hopefully he felt our enjoyment of his months with us.
Wayne Ward introduced Bridging’s Director of Strategic Partnership – Diana Dalsin. Many of us have fond memories of her previous visits accompanying Bridging Founder Fran Heitzman as we were treated to his boundless energy and encouragement for us to keep performing “Good things”. Fran and Diana’s 2015 visit photo is shown below.
Diana provided a summary of the help Bridging has been providing Twin Cities communities since 1987. It is amazing to think about the amount of coordination and partnerships that are responsible for the 5,000+ clients served, and 15 semi-trailer loads of housing supplies and furniture moved each week. Bridging depends on volunteer hours and donations of cash and materials, and partnerships with 260 local agencies.
Former Rotarian Steve Mueller was responsible for organizing our club’s efforts, including the 2019 collection drive pictured in the photos below.

Note from John Roebke: Invocations can be a faith traditional prayer, or a meditation, or inspirational verse or quote. Brief 20 – 30 seconds. Light-hearted is okay. Option: focus on our Mission of Service Above Self. Need an idea – Google Rotary Invocations. Not a personal talent? Don't wait, tell me NOW, 612-790-7067, john.roebke@live.com. I will be glad to name another. If I forgot that you told me not a talent, please forgive me. Remind me. If not a good DATE, trade with a mate.
