PRESENTATION: Matt Podhradsky and Marshall Grange – Chaska Cares Music Festival

Matt Podhradsky - Chaska City Manager, and Marshall Grange - Chaska Parks and Recreation Director, provided their plans for a Chaska Cares Music Festival on October 7 at the Athletic Park baseball field.  With less than three months to go, this is a fast-moving project.  Matt was energetic in his admiration of the Chaska Lions success in providing beer sales at River City Days, and he hoped that we could duplicate their revenue for our club at our festival.  He indicated that the Prior Lake Music Festival model could benefit Chaska businesses as well as our club.  Our interest in a recurring Pond Hockey tournament has faded as the reliability of adequately frozen surface has diminished.

The musical theme for our festival is Folk, Blues and Americana.  Marshall listed the potential groups and musicians for the venue.  He also provided a summary of the anticipated financial requirements and conservative estimates of revenue.  Southwest Transit will be a key partner that will manage transportation for attendees.

Matt’s vision of this festival is for it to be a sustainable event, generating income for our club (and city) that will fund the Miracle Field and other endeavors that further the Rotary mission.
