Erin Kerber distributed 3 booklets of raffle tickets for us to sell to those who didn’t receive them last week. Each set has 18 tickets, to be sold at $20 for one or $50 for three. (3x18 = 54 tickets). We also received a Venmo QR code and instructions to record the date of a Venmo purchase on the ticket stub that we retain. This is a Gaming Department requirement. After the buyer scans the VENMO QR code and makes the necessary entries, Erin advised us to view the completed Venmo purchase on the buyer’s phone before we issue the tickets and record their details on the stub.
Erin showed us the shift assignments to staff our Pub beverage sales during River City Days. She had a photo of the inventory in her garage before the transfer to a refrigerated truck that will be welcome in the forecast heat this weekend.

PRESENTATION: Spine Care and Treatment, Dr. Rober Brenner
Matt Szybnski introduced Dr. Robert Brenner, from the Ridgeview Spine and Pain Clinic. LINK
Dr. Brenner has provided his surgical skills here for the past 4 ½ years, after starting his career in New York. Rob believes the Ridgeview Clinic is able to combine talents of orthopedics, central nervous system and spine care in a coordinated effort to benefit our communities.
Dr. Brenner wisely limited his prepared presentation and spent the rest of the meeting answering questions. A summary of his comments:
· The Pain Clinic strives to avoid opiate treatments.
· Steroids are a “wash-out” drug that leaves no long-term impacts.
· Quick response and treatment can shorten spine pain duration.
· If you live more than 35 years, you will experience some level of arthritis.
· If you are over 65, your spine will show some level of misalignment.
· He appreciates the benefits of chiropractic care as long as home physical therapy is part of their plan.
· There are spinal differences between men and women due to longevity and bone density.
· Dr. Brenner spoke with praise of Minnesota’s Veterans care.
· Mattress and pillow selection don’t have a substantiated effect on spine health.
· Motion is lotion.
· Home exercise is good for your body, especially when performed in the morning.
· Surgery is not always the solution to pain. Medical knowledge is still developing.
Dr. Brenner sees patients in Chaska and Waconia. Telephone 952-856-4033.
Note from John Roebke: Invocations can be a faith traditional prayer, or a meditation, or inspirational verse or quote. Brief 20 – 30 seconds. Light-hearted is okay. Option: focus on our Mission of Service Above Self. Need an idea – Google Rotary Invocations. Not a personal talent? Don't wait, tell me NOW, 612-790-7067, john.roebke@live.com. I will be glad to name another. If I forgot that you told me not a talent, please forgive me. Remind me. If not a good DATE, trade with a mate. September and the rest of the schedule will be developed when John gets back into his routine.
Our club was on display at Chaska’s River City Days and we once again made a good impression on the thirsty visitors to the Rotary Pub. We benefited from the planning, energy and dedication of Erin Kerber and her squad of assistants to provide life-sustaining beverages during the “high-heat index” days of the event. Fighting mosquitoes, an aging truck, unanticipated supply chain and inventory hurdles, and training the tech-challenged servers, our team showed the community that we are here to help make this a great place to live.
