A Message from the Interns
In our second week of working with Rotary, we had the honor of meeting Ray. Introducing himself as the husband of a personal favorite substitute teacher at Chaska High School, Judy Schalow, we immediately felt comforted by the warmhearted grace he exuded as a person, husband, and fellow Rotarian. Ever since then, Ray has blessed us with his great stories, sharp wit, and kind heart. While nothing could ever fill what he left behind, the impact Ray had on all of us will never be forgotten and will forever be a blessing.

Bayza then described the Pathways to Careers (P2C) scholarship program which prepares high school juniors and seniors for technical careers and guides them through a Dunwoody curriculum and the administrative processes that provide scholarships and individual counseling. Ms. Weeks explained the program’s focus on underserved and underrepresented students who may face racial and economic hurdles to achieving employment and educational success.
Augustine Kietzer, the Program Director for Pathways to Careers,
attended our meeting. In post-meeting Q+A, she provided detailed information to Bob Chinnock about how the P2C program might be introduced to the STRIVE students.

Club Announcements and Updates
Finemaster and Happy Dollars: Dan Keyport provided a status update for our NCAA basketball playoff bracket sheet. Those who still had all 4 of their selections still in play escaped from a fine. Selections with 1 loss paid $1, and 2 losses stuffed the pig with $2. No one had 3 or 4 losses, so everyone still has hoop hopes for this week’s games! Mike Fahey, Lisa Anderson, Gary Hardel and Gretchen Oppriecht donated Happy Dollars.
Gary Cooper let us know that “Doctor” Erin Kerber is the scheduled speaker at today’s STRIVE meeting.
Keith Payne asked for sponsorships for the Pond Hockey tournament on January 26-29 in 2023. Denny Loving brought a layout map of the hockey fields that will host the Clay Cup tournament.
Gretchen Oppriecht also reminded us of the need for sponsorships for our May service projects.
