Last Week's Presentation

Wayne Ward introduced Greg Boe, the State Representative for District 47B, elected in Nov. 2018. Because of his father’s recent death, Rep. Boe wanted to share more about his motivations to serve than details of his legislative efforts. He remembered growing up seeing adults providing service to the community and noted “When I get older, I want to do that too.” Greg spent 9 years on the Chaska Planning Commission, then joined the City Council for 10 years. In 2018, he was elected to the MN House, replacing Joe Hoppe. Greg touched on a few of the legislative issues that have his attention, including developing the state’s budget, improving education, ending the COVID state of emergency, managing the federally-provided COVID funds and improving the state’s infrastructure and roads. When the next session begins in January 2022, he will be working on affordable housing and
public safety.

Gretchen Oppriecht offered this note on LEADERSHIP by Kenyan Joe Otin from page 47 of the January 2021 issue of Rotary magazine: “… three things are crucial for our future leaders: that they understand that means are as important as the ends; that they use a decentralized and participatory style of management; and that they apply a multicultural approach to solving the world’s problems.”
Club Announcements and Updates

Gretchen Oppriecht recognized the members of our Board of Directors. We were encouraged to talk with them and to complete a survey sent by District 5950 if we have issues or ideas about our club’s activities.
Gretchen asked for donations to help support the Heroes and Helpers event on Saturday, December 4th from 9:00 AM to noon. This is a collaboration with the Chaska Target store, Chaska’s Police, Explorer Scouts, and Community Emergency Response Team to provide presents and gift cards to selected members of the community. Julie Janke has been invited to share information about this at our Dec. 2 meeting.

Vic Benetti announce a STRIVE meeting at Chaska High School later in the morning.

Dan Keyport invited us to join the “Chaska 100” to fund holiday decorations for the city.

Happy Dollars were given by Mike Fahey, Gary Cooper, and Michelle Kraus.
