Gretchen Oppriecht asked us to start our next meeting on August 22 at 7:00 AM so we can mingle with the new educators and staffs before our annual Breakfast with them.
Michelle Kraus reminded us to reserve the date of September 20 so we can all work to make the Chaska Cares Music Festival a successful fundraiser for the Miracle Field. Volunteers will be needed between 4 and 10 PM to collect donations and beverages. Link.
Erin Kerber asked us to spread the word about our need for Exchange Student Host Families. Marcos Juan Alonsos arrives on Sunday, Aug. 18, and will be hosted by Michelle Kraus and her family. Erin will be waving the Spanish flag to grab his attention at the airport!
FINEMASTER
George Glaros leapt ahead on our calendar and filled up the blue pig with donations that reflected our lack of trivial knowledge about Labor Day. Most tables paid their minimum wages and reflected that our employee benefits were not as much as we deserved!
Nonetheless, Happy Dollars were evidence of good employee morale by George himself, Matt Podhradsky, Gary Hardel, Ken Hiller, Cindy Anderson and Intern Alumnus John Goodman. John is headed for the University of Nebraska and was joined in attending our meeting by co-intern Sophia Pesina, who is bound for the University of Wisconsin. Our new interns from Chaska High School also were present today – Madison Edwards and Summer Mazhary.
Rotary Club Committee Meetings were lively and mixed with discussions of Dan Keyport’s just-published book, George Glaros declaring his candidacy for Chaska mayor, and the result of this week’s Primary Election results.
Brief end-of-meeting reports were delivered from Social, International, Community and Membership groups. More defined results will probably follow next month, after the member survey results are discussed at our August 29 meeting.
Note from John Roebke: Invocations can be a faith traditional prayer, or a meditation, or inspirational verse or quote. Brief 20 – 30 seconds. Light-hearted is okay. Option: focus on our Mission of Service Above Self. Need an idea – Google Rotary Invocations. Not a personal talent? Don't wait, tell me NOW, 612-790-7067, john.roebke@live.com. I will be glad to name another. If I forgot that you told me not a talent, please forgive me. Remind me. If not a good DATE, trade with a mate.
