Matt Podhradsky introduced the Scholarship Awards
and challenged the students to continue to pursue excellence in their chosen paths and to include contributions to their community and betterment of the world as they go forward. He referred to the Rotary Four-Way Test as an influence in making their decisions.
Gary Goeman thanked the Scholarship Committee for their hours of effort to review applications, conduct interviews and make selections. Included: Bob Chinnock, Kevin Eide, Jean Heyduck, Bob Lindall, and Keith Payne. Gary noted that those who received the $2,000 scholarships all demonstrated a commitment to community improvement.
Two recipients attended our meeting: Ben Kolesar, who will be attending St. Thomas University focusing on business; and Ava Bartz, who will travel to the University of Wisconsin, Madison and major in Biology.
Not present were Anna Hock, Emelyn Valencia Correa, and Jessica Tran.
Sheryl Hough and Bob Chinnock
provided leadership for the STRIVE program this past year. They happily provided a summary of the results: ten improved their grade point average, and all 16 students had perfect attendance.
Scholarships of $1,000, $500, and $250 were awarded. Rotarian Mentors participating in STRIVE included Vic Benetti, Gary Cooper, Dui DeBower, Ken Hiller, Erin Kerber, and Wayne Ward. Special thanks were given to teacher Ryan Smith for providing Chaska High School coordination and faculty interface.

Rotarians participating in the tree planting, but missed naming new member Robin Nesburg, who joined us in May. He has just retired from a career that included commercial real estate appraisal. Please say Hello to Robin when you see him at a meeting.
