PRESENTATION: Michael Brindisi + Kris Howland, Chanhassen Dinner Theatres
Gretchen Oppriecht introduced Michael Brindisi and Kris Howland from Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. Mr. Brindisi performed on stage in his first Chanhassen production in 1971. He became the theatres’ Resident Artistic Director in 1988. Since 1968, Chanhassen Dinner Theatres has produced more than 240 productions.
Michael proved to us that PowerPoint slides, bulleted lists and handouts are not always needed to provide a presentation that captivates an audience. He shared his thoughts about retirement versus “keep going” and gaining the ability to relax while working on a production at the Circa 21 Playhouse in Rock Island Illinois. His storytelling skills touched on family relationships, memories of his favorite “State Fair” production, and his enjoyment and nostalgia related to the current “Jersey Boys” musical.
After Michael finished his Q+A session, Kris Howland kept us in the room with Theatre trivia questions and complimentary tickets for correct answers. Together, Kris and Michael gave us a memorable experience we won’t forget!

Chaska River City Days Wine Tent
Cynthia Anderson led the large team of organizers, logistical support, and servers at our Wine Tent at River City Days in Lions Park. The new location gave us some challenges of distance from parking and at the far end of other concessions and activities. However, we were next to the Lions’ Beer tent, main stage and the Potties, so we got exposure as people wandered closer. Excepting a period of gale-force wind on Friday afternoon, the weather was sunny and moderate. The park venue allowed more vendors, crafts and unique activities, including full armor + sword combat demonstrations!
Cynthia wants to thank the many people who made sure we were successful:
Greg Anderson, Carol Benetti, Vic Benetti, George Glaros, Celi Haga, Gary Hardel, Jean Heyduck, Sheryl Hough, Erin Kerber, Dan Keyport, Kaylee Kraus, Hunter Kraus, Bob Lindall, Robin Nesburg, Matt Podhradsky, Chris Protz, Claudine Solseng, Phil Solseng, Neil Wingert. Thanks also to Greg Anderson and Sarah Carlson for their photos.
