PRESENTATION: Our Club’s Legacy and Accomplishments
Vic Benetti led the review of our club’s legacy and accomplishments and challenged us to meet and exceed them in our future. Paul Harris awards were listed, then our major contributors and those whose donations have gone beyond the formal Paul Harris levels were acknowledged.
Dave Pokorney took us down memory lane and listed Community Service projects from the past 50 years. He brought out an impressive virtual “family” photo album to illustrate events and activities and reminders of what we looked like in younger days. Erin Kerber sent an email with a PDF file with slides filled with images that challenged us to continue our tradition of service.
Phil Solseng reviewed 40 years of international Exchange Students and efforts by our members that crossed borders and built bridges around the world. Phil summarized 4 aspects of our international activities: Youth Exchange, New Generations, Service Projects, and international travel that included a Rotary focus. Our Exchange Program has touched many lives here and around the world, so Phil was able to share testimonials from participants that should encourage members to be host families. Phil also encouraged us to add a welcome sign in Chaska that invites contact by visiting Rotarians. Examples from other cities are shown below.
Gary Cooper closed the presentation by noting that when a Rotarian is asked to help, we don’t say “No”. The power of Rotary is proven by the $580,000 we have contributed to the Rotary Foundation and the projects reviewed by other presenters.
Club Announcements and Updates
