Neil Wingert invited the club to attend Chaska's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast celebration on Monday, January 16th at 7:45 am at the Chaska Event Center!
FINEMASTER - Dan Keyport
Dan Keyport expanded our hobbyist horizons by showing photos of taxidermy pieces created by Rotarians in the strange alternate universe that Dan lives in. Each “creator” of Dan’s selections was fined for their membership in that unusual organization: Steve Wein, Gary Cooper, John Roebke, Jodi Hess, Sheryl Hough, Peter Ivy, Erika Kennedy, Lisa Anderson, Nate Bostrom, Mike Vandenberg, Ken Hiller, Gary Hardel, Dui Debower, and Jean Heyduck (welcome to your initiation!).
Apparently stunned by the images, no one offered Happy Dollars.
ROTARY EXCHANGE STUDENT - Natasha Palmelund
Natasha shared her success in recent Ski Team competition in the downhill slalom event, and that her next goal is to learn the moves needed to survive Moguls.
PRESENTATION:
School District 112 Superintendent Lisa Sayles-Adams, Ed.D.
Introduced by Rotarian and the District’s Director of Communications and Community Relations Celine Haga, Superintendent Sayles-Adams provided video, slides and commentary that covered the status and progress of school district. Much of the presentation content can be viewed online at www.district112.org/district.
Lisa explained the strategic plan that guides the District through the turbulent issues of the COVID pandemic, changing demographics, fluctuating enrollment, and funding. The District’s staff and educators have shared Mission, Vision, Core Values, Strategic Directions and Expectations with objective performance measures. The status of these measures is meant to be updated twice a year and visible to the public through “Vision Cards” on the district’s web page (www.district112.org/district/strategic-plan).
In the Question / Answer opportunity she provided, Lisa discussed the inadequate funding for special education, the projections for enrollment and prospects of future school construction, options for learning methods, and a Student Advisory Council on matters of diversity.
