Last Week's Meeting
Speaker Schedule
Gretchen Oppriecht and our Board of Directors met prior to the club meeting. In response to comments from former club members, they wanted the meeting participants to review the 2021 Guest Speaker summary and provide highlights of those discussions with our group. There was unanimous support and appreciation of Nate Bostrom’s management of the Speaker program. While the tables summarized their thoughts on the topic of speaker presentations, Gretchen and Board members took notes and will share them with Nate.
A specific request was made by Gretchen, who asked us to ponder ideas for showing appreciation for “legacy leaders” of our club during the meeting on Feb. 10. If your light bulb clicks on, please contact Gretchen, Vic Benetti, Gary Cooper or Keith Payne.
Rotary Leads the Way in May
To demonstrate Service Above Self in our community throughout May 2022, thirteen themes were reviewed. These included previous Chaska Rotary projects, community events, and recognized focus-months and days. Our tables and Zoom groups evaluated the list to identify which activities could benefit our neighbors in Chaska as well as our exposure and involvement with them. Leaders will explore these and a few other options, and we’ll hear results as the coming weeks speedily approach.

Club Announcements and Updates
Finemaster and Happy Dollars: Finemaster Dan Keyport prompted everyone to look at their weight listed on their driver’s license. The honest folks were supposed to pay if it was less than their current weight. A true measure of our Four-Way Test! Then, Dan picked on Matt Podhradsky and Mike Wentzell, and left the rest of us alone. Happy Dollars were offered by Rick Ness for his usual football alumni pride, and by Ken Hiller, who had contact with 2015-16 exchange student Simon Boothman-Milankovic, from Croatia (pictured to the right). Simon is in his 4th year of studying to join the medical profession.
Michelle Kraus invited us to participate in a Club Social gathering on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 5:00 – 6:30 PM at the J. Carver Distillery in Waconia.
Gary Goeman (through Gretchen Oppriecht) is forming the Scholarship Team to review applications and interview students. Contact Gary if you want to help.
