Amanda Bloomgren reminded us of the Llama-Rama event on Oct. 8 at the Carver County Fairgrounds. To get tickets and more information: Llama Rama – Fall Festival (llamaramamn.com). Michelle Kraus recommended that our members either volunteer to help staff the Wine Tent or contribute cash to atone for the work of others.
Greg Anderson invited us to a big bonfire at Phil Solseng’s farm, as part of Autumn on the Bluff on Saturday, October 1, 2022. 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM. 16315 Jonathan Carver Pkwy, Carver. The event’s proceeds benefit the Justin Kukowski Foundation which provides support to local families by relieving the burdens associated with cancer treatment - www.justinkukowskifoundation.org.
Bob Chinnock and Sheryl Hough are leading our STRIVE project this school year. They are asking for mentors to provide counsel for 3-5 students, and for gift card donations ($20-$25) that will help motivate participation.
FINEMASTER + HAPPY DOLLARS
Dave Pokorney brought out his virtual motivation tool and quickly fined Sheryl Hough, Dui DeBower, Ryan Seibert, and Lisa Anderson. The rest of us breathed easy, but only for a few moments. Then Dave quizzed us on events in Chaska Rotary history. If a table of members answered correctly, the reward was a more difficult question that resulted in a fine. So, everyone paid eventually. However, the Rotary spirit was still present, and Happy Dollars were donated by Steve Wein.
ROTARY EXCHANGE STUDENT
Attention to football games, cheerleading, and a Homecoming dress has kept Natasha focused on more than just schoolwork. The philosophical question of the morning was “Why is there no COFFEE in coffeecake?”
PRESENTATION:
Brett Altergott, Miracle Field and Playground
Matt Podhradsky introduced Brett Altergott, from Flagship Recreation to enlighten us about the work his organization will be provided to bring a Miracle League Field and Adaptive Playground to Chaska.
Brett’s presentation covered the services of his company and the growing needs for children with disabilities or conditions that warrant alternative and adaptive play environments. Excellent photos of playgrounds and sports fields illustrated the features that may be included in our project. Brett stressed the features of accommodation and sustainability and provided examples of how sponsorships and instructions might be highlighted.
