ROTARY BUSINESS
-
Updated 2024 Calendar (Michelle) – attached.
-
Still needs dates for: Golf, Music Fest, Klein Award, (Spring Social)
-
Rotary Business Dates?
Michelle created a calendar that included all dates for all Rotary functions, i.e. fundraisers, Bingo, service projects, meetings, etc.
There was a question on the date of the Golf Event; it was determined that it’s the Friday after Labor Day.
Discussion ensued regarding the Klein Award. Gary Cooper offered to put together a history of the Klein Award and suggested that we have former recipients from the Club serve on a committee to secure nominations and select a recipient.
Several other calendar notes: Our February 29th meeting will be a service project where we learn CPR. Our May 30 meeting will be a service project focusing on homelessness, which is the District focus for that month. Christmas in May is an additional service project we’ll be doing in May.
Michelle also mentioned several other service projects that will take place instead of our regular morning meeting: August 29th (perhaps with Fishing with Friends) and October 31. She reminded us that in any month with five Thursdays, we’ll devote that fifth Thursday to a service project.
-

ITEMS NEEDING ACTION
-
River Valley Health Services Chaska/Carver County Project – will be at the Community Center in Chaska on January 24th to provide health services to poor & homeless in our community. Looking for finical help to cover costs. (attached)
The board decided not to provide funding and instead Jean will contact them to share our new charitable giving guidelines and encourage them to apply for funding next year using that process.
ITEMS FOR UPDATE OR DISCUSSION
-
Bingo (Keith/Michelle)
Keith shared that we netted approx. $700. In addition, we saved approx. $700 in fees related to our regular meeting at the Event Center (i.e. linens, food/beverage, room rental, etc.) Erin covered the cost of the caller, which Patron has agreed to cover going forward.
Going forward, we’ll need club members to volunteer to help run the event. More expansive promotion was also discussed. Keith suggested we have the caller, Tony, come to a morning meeting to explain the intricacies of running an event like Bingo and how the members can help.
-
Chaska Event Center (Keith/Michelle)
-
Chaska Event Center lowering room rental fee from $300 to $250/day.
-
Paperwork filed to remove taxes from Crooked Pint meal bill.
-
Crooked Pint would like a point person to do Good & Services and 21 days advance notice.
We need a point person to work with Crooked Pint; Pat was a name bandied about.
Gary Cooper brought up the possibility of no longer having breakfast and, instead, create a different fee schedule so that “breakfast money” could be applied to mission-based things or the Foundation. Gary will put together a proposal for what it might look like if we stop serving breakfast.
-
