Invocation: Sheryl Hough
Mike Wentzel invited us to fulfill the club’s semi annual commitment to clean up our designated portion of Highway 41 south of Engler Blvd. On Wednesday, May 24, at 6 PM, we’ll meet at the Crown of Glory Church parking lot, divide up
collection bags and pick a side of the road.
We’ll have fun finding the treasures thoughtfully tossed aside by our neighbors and visitors. Afterwards, we’ll have a Social gathering at the Schram Brewery, and you don’t have to be part of the pick- up patrol to participate. (Although you may feel pressure to support those who did.)
Dan Keyport announced our grant has been approved to plant trees on Saturday, June 3 at 10:00 AM, at Chaska’s Community Park, off of Hundertmark Rd. We’ll hopefully be joined by other Rotary groups and Chaska Lions. Ongoing donations will fund future plantings and upkeep to counteract the destruction caused by the Emerald Ash Borer. Bring your own shovels and gloves. This effort will also be followed by a Social Picnic at Athletic Park.
FINEMASTER: Peter Ivy
Our “figure of speech” acumen was improved demonstrably as Peter Ivy asked table groups to name the term described by Peter’s clue. Ken Hiller was the first to feel the sting of Peter’s $2 fines, and not the last. Zoomers and most tables squeezed their memories of 9 th grade English class to remember alliterations, similes, metaphors and euphemisms. Some might have seen the irony that a trial lawyer would not use hyperbole as an exaggeration to add a more dramatic meaning to this challenge! Happy dollars were added to the largess by Wayne Ward, Dan Keyport and Neil Wingert.
ROTARY EXCHANGE STUDENT - Natasha Palmelund
After several weeks off from her in-person social media sharing, Natasha described going to a rock and roll concert, the Mall of America, and having changing views of her own future. Psychology may have given way to international business. What will be the road taken – left brain or right brain?
