Bob Chinnock asked the STRIVE mentors to meet after our Holiday Auction and Celebration.
EXCHANGE STUDENT: Viola Bavastro
Viola shared her Christmas tradition story of making 1200 raviolis with four generations of her family. We hope her memories of this time with us are remembered with equal fondness!
With holiday wishes, Sheryl Hough reported that our Rotary club raised $3,100 with our auction bids and another $1,000 with our money board for a grand total of $4,100. A big congratulations goes to our Money Board winner, Jean Heyduck, who bought the very last number left on the board, #90.
Another big shout out to our elves, Gretchen, Gary H, George, and our interns, John and Sophia. Each one played a crucial role in making this a successful celebration. We are grateful to Erin for tracking the bids for us on a moment's notice. Gretchen donated 10 poinsettias for our centerpieces and raffle prizes. Kristy Miklas, our treasurer, also deserves our thanks for quickly working to ensure all our donations are accounted for.
Thank you to all of you who participated in our Christmas Auction by bringing a gift to auction off, bid high to raise lots of money or bought a money board spot or three or five...We are a team!
Bob Chinnock and the Rotarian mentors met at the high school and received a presentation from Ava Heinrich, a Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist, Early Careers - Apprenticeship Program from Aon Insurance Company. This program provides tuition, books, and fees at Normandale Community College while interns receive full-time employee benefits and a starting salary of $42,000/year. Only those who are 18 years old by July 1 are eligible, so a one-year delayed-entry might be necessary for some students.
Note from John Roebke: Invocations can be a faith traditional prayer, or a meditation, or inspirational verse or quote. Brief 20 – 30 seconds. Light-hearted is okay. Option: focus on our Mission of Service Above Self. Need an idea – Google Rotary Invocations. Not a personal talent? Don't wait, tell me NOW, 612-790-7067, john.roebke@live.com. I will be glad to name another. If I forgot that you told me not a talent, please forgive me. Remind me. If not a good DATE, trade with a mate.
