Another “Woo Hoo” from Char Weber filled the room as she shared her enthusiasm for our annual Gala on March 14. Sponsor tables, auction items, as well as invitations of friends, neighbors and associates are all needed. Gary Cooper provided enticing details of his Rainy Lake Cabin Get-Away. This year, each of 6 spaces at the cabin will be auctioned separately.
Ron Cossette represented the needs of Treehouse, and invited us to learn more at an Open House at Hazeltine that afternoon.
Tom Croft relayed letters to our club he had received:
• A Thank You from Danielle Bloom, our January 12 speaker from School Space Media.
• A Thank You from Jessica Ayers-Bean, a representative from Camp Fire, for our donation pledge to Camp Tanadoona.
• A Thank You from Barbara Zell and Amber Kahnke, representing River Valley Nursing Center, a 2014 Gala recipient. The funds have been used to support a free flu vaccine clinic, a collaborative medical clinic for Scott and Carver counties, and equipment purchases for medical screening services.
Brett Johnson invited us to stay after the meeting to help apply book labels, and to have fun at the Hooked On Books event on Saturday, February 21at the Chanhassen High School, from 9 AM – noon. If you want to help, or just attend, you’ll be treated to meeting a local author and seeing hundreds of children excited by activities and the pleasures of books.
