Notes from Our Most Recent Meeting
Presentation: Year in Review - Erin Kerber and Jean Heyduck
As the toast soaked up the last of the maple syrup on our plates, the year’s priorities focused us on the business at hand. Expenses versus revenue always sobers up a crowd, and Erin pointed out our fiscal health is better than last year but will need our efforts at festivals and selling raffles tickets. Volunteers at all the upcoming events will make the work easier for us to have fun while we fund!

Erin and Jean thanked six new members for joining us – Jim Halloran, Pat Wittrock, Colleen Luck, Nate Manaen, Lindsey Hagen and Susana DeLeon. Now that most of their work is done, our presidents had fun transporting us down Memory Lane as they described the activities related to service, youth exchange (Marcos!), international goodwill, care of the environment, community Involvement, providing grants, conducting our meetings and raising the funds to make almost everything possible. Those club members who participated in the events stood for recognition as the photos were shown and Erin and Jean thanked them for doing their part in the effort to accomplish Rotary’s mission. (Only Erin, Jean and Neil knew how much work went into the development of the presentation slides!)

Humorous gifts were presented to incoming president Ryan. Our interns left with mementos from us as well.

Those present voted to accept the club’s new bylaws, but attendance did not meet the quorum needed.  Absentees should reply to Erin’s email dated June 23 and indicate approval, or not, of the bylaws. The club constitution included as an attachment to that email goes into effect and does not need approval.

YOUR VOTE IS NEEDED!

Special Breakfast
  • Peter Ivy, Greg Anderson, Ken Hiller, Bob Chinnock and Cindy Anderson teamed up and delivered a breakfast that included French toast, ham, fruit bowls, yogurt and juice. Their skill at learning the operations of industrial equipment and service for twenty may have put them into a reputation that demands repeating!  Thank you!

Announcements
  • Neil Wingert attended the Rotary District 5950 Governor changeover on Saturday, June 28 in the Fagen Fighters WWII Museum near Granite Falls, MN.  (Head west on Highway 212 about 100 miles.)  Mark Shockey is our new DG, replacing Sharon Bloodworth (remember golden crowns and sashes on 12 Sept 2024?). Former governors Jewelie Grape and Lloyd Campbell were attendees also.  Mark will visit our club on July 17.  He transitions from the presidency of the Rotary Club for Serving Minnesota Veterans. From that club’s web page: “We are a group of Veterans and other service minded men and women living in Minnesota who were chartered as a service club within Rotary International in October, 2019.  Our sense of service derives from military core values of ‘Service before Self’  that parallels those of Rotary International ‘Service above Self.’
