October 29, 2020 Speaker: Don Stiles, District 5950 Grant Treasurer

Andy Haugen introduced Don Stiles, a member of Bloomington Rotary and the Grant Treasurer for Rotary District 5950. With slides and deep knowledge of the Grant Process, Don walked us through the path of our donations being multiplied at the District and International levels. We learned the requirements to obtain a grant, the advantage of partnering with other clubs and the recent grants we have received. The Seven Areas of Focus of Rotary can point us in a project direction, and Don shared ideas other clubs have turned into Grant accomplishments.  He also provided the data about our club’s donations and illustrated the leveraging possible if every member contributed $1 per day. The Rotary Foundation receives the highest efficiency rating from Charity Navigator, so we are assured that our donations are used effectively. Dan Keyport reminded us that we can donate a recurring amount automatically each month to the Rotary Foundation and achieve a nice giving level with a minimum amount of effort.
