Nov. 15: Give to the Rotary Foundation and triple your dollars (at least!)

Rotarians Dan Keyport and Tom Moorse introduced the tag team of Don Stiles, Rotary District 5950 Foundation
Grant Treasurer and Tim Murphy, former District Governor and current Foundation Grant Chair. They a fast-paced slide
presentation. Tim and Don explained the three types of Rotary Foundations 3 different funds, and the multiplying effect of the different levels within the foundations. Small grants are now administered within Districts, while large global projects are handled at the higher Rotary Foundation level.

For each dollar each of us contributes, at least $3 is returned within our grants that are approved. If we choose a project benefitting the health of children and mothers, the grant return is $7. Examples of large and small projects illustrated the range of Rotary influence around the globe. Five other causes also received Foundation support: Promoting Peace, Providing Clean Water, Supporting Education, Growing Local Economies, and Fighting Disease. Don shared financial data on local and district grants in recent years. Our Christmas in May project is an example of a $3,000 grant we received – once we provided the initial $1,000. We are encouraged to create individual accounts through My Rotary that allow us to easily make and track donations to the Foundation. The District’s goal is to average a $365 donation for each member each year, which will reach a million dollar level for our district.
