Nate Bostrom introduced Dr. Scott Morrell – Founder and President of Rebar Leadership (formally Stone Arch Organization Development) based in Minneapolis.
Scott works with senior leaders, chief executives, boards and management teams to execute more effective organizations, leading to better performance. He holds an Ed.D. in Organization Development, a M.A. in Counseling Psychology both from the University of St. Thomas and a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Concordia University, St. Paul.
Dr. Morrell shared slides that communicated his belief that “’either/or’ thinking is needed but it has limitations.” He encouraged us “To recognize the interdependency between ‘either/or’ and ‘both/and’ methods of decision-making.” He also provided examples to illustrate “how ‘either/or’ and ‘both/and’ thinking can build a sustainable service organization.” Dr. Morrell made the connection between theory and reality while discussing the issues facing our Rotary club and other non-profits as a result of COVID, demographics and technology influences. He discussed “polarities” in our lives and in service organizations in particular. Dr. Morrell us with a chart/tool that could help in our decisions.
