Rotarian Matt Szybnski introduced Mike Phelps, CEO and president in Ridgeview Medical Center. He is the third person to hold this position in the organization’s 54 years of operation. Phelps noted that Ridgeview recently received an A– rating for its strong financial management, at the same time it was working on major expansion and renovations throughout the southwest metro area and central Minnesota counties. Examples of growth include the beginning of an expanded emergency department in Waconia; combining and replacing the Ridgeview’s information and medical records system; opening a spine and pain clinic, and opening a satellite clinic in Le Sueur.
Ridgeview employees 2,135 contributing to communities throughout Minnesota. Phelps reviewed some future directions and efforts that got Rotarian and Chaska City Manager Matt Podhradsky excited. Phelps then moved onto the highly-charged topic of healthcare, insurance and government. Without any means to predict the future state of all the factors affecting Ridgeview and its customer’s, Phelps said that his role will to keep his organization “nimble” and focused on providing good value to customers, partners and communities.
