Ron Cossette introduced our speaker: Mark Muhlenkort, President of Chaska’s Beyond the Yellow Ribbon organization. Chaska received its designation in 2012 after meeting many criteria relating to the support of veterans within the city’s services, Public Safety, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, religious faith groups and other attributes that show the community is dedicated to those performing military service above self. Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is not a charity. It functions as a clearing house of information and referral to veterans and active duty personnel and their families. Mark noted their partnership with Caribou Coffee to supply coffee to the local armory, VA hospital and a Fisher house which supports veteran’s’ families while they are hospitalized. He invited a Rotarian to become active in Beyond the Yellow Ribbon and act as a liaison between the organizations. Monthly meetings occur at the Chaska Community Center on the 2nd Wednesday, 6:30 – 7:30 PM. There is a monthly Burger Night at the Chaska VFW on the 3rd Wednesday, 5 – 7 PM. A free spaghetti dinner is planned for 9-26-15 from 5:00 to 7:30 PM at the Chaska American Legion.
